Young Audiences New York is delighted to accept teams of corporate volunteers as well as individuals. Our professional staff and artists are always on-site with children and youth, so you don’t have to be an expert. We will orient you before you participate and be interested to talk with you afterwards about what you learned and what you might like to do next. Here are a few ways you can get started. Call us if there are other ways you would like to help.
LINK NYC Team Mentor: As a team, coach small groups of teens on a digital storytelling project over the course of a semester. Host 3-4 meetings with your teen team at your company, advising them on the execution of their project while also giving them insights into how creative work projects happen at Marsh.
Family Workshop Aide: Partner with Young Audiences staff and artists to host an evening of art making at one of our K-8th grade schools (Bronx, Brooklyn or Manhattan). In addition to greeting families, setting up materials and serving refreshments, you can create art alongside children and their parents (no experience needed). You can also inspire children and their parents by sharing your ideas about how creativity has helped you in your career.
World of Work Guide: Host a group of children or teens from one of the communities Young Audiences New York serves for a tour and conversation about work at your company (or with your NYC area vendors and partners). Highlight “creativity at work” to help children and youth think about their career paths.
Behind the Scenes Assistant: Help Young Audiences New York advance critical projects: e.g. leveraging Salesforce, branding, etc.
